SPATIAL PLANNING

Spatial planning is an important step in the interior design process. ... A poorly planned space can have a negative effect on a room in many ways. In order to be able to create a space that is functional, beautiful and meets our client's needs we understand that precise planning is the key.

MATERIAL TRANSFORMATION

The interior design world isn't lacking in options—we've perhaps never had better access to a range of raw materials and technologically advanced surfaces. Along with sustainability and wellness, mindfulness in our interiors makes the case for creating our homes as a refuge from the stresses of the outside world.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

To be concise, design development, as it relates to interior design, is how we transform our vision for the space into a unique design plan. For this phase to be successful we need a strong starting point or vision. We take inspiration from our clients expectations for the space we are designing, and their future goals, to devise a design story that directs the progression of the design. 

DOCUMENTATION

In this crucial phase we will liaise with the project architect/drafts person to put together the drawing set for the design so that building permits can be acquired, pricing determined, and a building contractor obtained. The documentation requirements vary depending on the extent of the project but can consist of demolition plans, partition plans, reflected ceiling plans, basic electrical plans, elevations, fixture & fittings schedules.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Clearly, this is the enjoyable part of the process, but making it a reality is another matter. Project management covers the nitty-gritty, the planning, the organisation, so it isn’t all fun and games, but it’s an essential part of interior design, and there’s nothing like the feeling of implementing a plan to create something new and beautiful.
